Two weeks ago, I visited Sacramento. I had never been before, except to drive by on I-80 or pass through by train. This time, I went into the city as a citizen lobbyist, supporting our cannabis movement, to lobby for state bill AB-2810 which proposes California begin a Sun-Grown Cannabis Commission. Driving via US-50 across [. ]

Last Sunday, Nikki and I went to a symposium sponsored by the International Cannabis Farmers Association (ICFA). It was a warm and sunny January afternoon at the Flow Cannabis Institute in Redwood Valley in Mendocino County. The symposium began with a keynote presentation by Founding Chair Kristin Nevedal. To quote their year-end report, ICFA “ [. ]

Join Swami Chaitanya & Nikki Lastreto & their guest, cannabis community royalty, The Soil King himself, his highness Patrick King in a virtual Zoom Hangout!

Born in Santa Clara California, little did Patrick King know that he was of the loins and fifth generation from Johnny Appleseed. After struggling his entire life to understand who he was, where he had come from, and why he’s cut from his own cloth, King found out a few years ago the relation to the one person in history that he would have selected to be like if he had a choice. John Chaplin (Johnny Appleseed).

Patrick’s first memory was in my strawberry patch at 3 years old, agriculture has been the most consistent thing in his entire life and gives him serenity even within the worst times. Agriculture is his spirituality. With a passion-fueled mission of “Changing The World One Plant At a Time” and screaming loud enough for the world to hear him, it took many many years before it echoed across that journey… Soil King was formed. Patrick started The Soil King Garden Center, manufacturing soil blends suitable for his own high standards, “Designed by Grower’s 4 Grower’s” with healthy tested inputs. Today, when he’s not playing in the dirt, Patrick is expanding his footprint in the California cannabis market through vertical integration, from the grassroots up! Tune in to this event to see what the future holds for Patrick and how Swami Select might play a role.

The Virtual Sesh returns and will officially begin at 4:20pm on Thursday, November 19th, and will last about an hour or so.

Feel free to join the party online around 4:00 pm so you’ll be tuned in and tuned up when the 4:20 mark is upon us 🙂

What do National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA), Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), Drug Policy Alliance (DPA), International Cannabis Farmers Association (ICFA), Angeles Emeralds, LA Cannabis Task Force, California NORML, Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP), and Americans for Safe Access (ASA) have in common?

They’ll all be at our event Monday night at The Abbey in West Hollywood.

Why? Because our event is all about cannabis advocacy. Read on…

Houston, we have a problem. Our industry needs funding. The people on the front lines who lobby for policies that help protect patients, give opportunities to women, minorities and people of color, relentlessly voice their thoughts and concerns on regulations for businesses, organize community outreach programs, and of course, get people out of prison who are still stuck in there for offenses that are no longer illegal, need our support.

Unfortunately, there are still too many companies and people in this industry that do not give back and appear to be just fine letting everyone else do the hard work for them as long as they can profit on top of it. This has got to stop and it’s up to us to make it happen.

Our speakers are going to talk to us about what we can do and how we can do it. They are going to help us understand what is needed and who needs it. They are going to get us thinking out of the box so we can all continue to support this industry and help make people’s lives better each and every day.

Join us on Monday June 26th at The Abbey in West Hollywood for a discussion on cannabis advocacy.

What can our industry do to support its non-profits & advocates and how can we create better “giving back” programs to the mainstream community?

Speakers:

  • Karen O’Keefe, Director of State Policies, Marijuana Policy Project (MPP)
  • Curtis Stafford, Director of Business Development, National Cannabis Industry Association (NCIA)
  • Ruben Honig, LA Cannabis Task Force
  • Mary Patton, Cannabis Advocate 10+ years
  • Hal Lewis, Cannabis Advocate 30+ years
  • Kenny Morrison, Cannabis Advocate 10+ years
  • Brad Lane, Cannabis Advocate 20+ years

A big thank you to our supporters and partners! Without their help, these events would not be possible.
