The "1231" signifies the end of one year and beginning of a new year. "Everybody knows the Belvedere name, it's an icon and people know where it is," Tim Raymond said. "This is an overwhelming opportunity really to grasp the reins and introduce our cooking to the community of Marshfield." Built as a supper club, the establishment has gone through various expansions over the years to include intimate meeting rooms, an outdoor wedding facility and a banquet hall for wedding receptions and other events.

Perhaps the biggest change patrons will notice are the hours the restaurant is open. Under the Leffels the restaurant was open from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m., but the Raymonds are changing the restaurant hours to 7 a.m. The Raymonds are in the process of composing an updated menu, but are keeping dishes like lobster and shrimp and other staples of the supper club, Karen Raymond said. The steaks, burgers and other menu standards will remain, as will the daily supper buffet that costs just over $12 and Saturday's $8 breakfast buffet. "We have a buffet now for supper and we're hoping to get a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet every day," Tim Raymond said. "We have always dreamed of owning a place like this and we wouldn't be here without the help of Dale and Pat. He believes in us." Dale Leffel said that the Raymonds will follow the motto he and his wife had, which was to serve quality food at reasonable prices and to have customers leave full.

"We want an opportunity to come in and try our food and be a family environment where families can come and eat and not be overwhelmed by the price," Tim Raymond said. "We want to take care of the customers first and foremost and make sure they leave full and happy." On May 16, the Raymonds are holding a retirement party for the Leffels at 1231 Belvedere with a full day of food and music, starting with a church service in the outdoor chapel, which sits on the north side of the building at 12:31 p.m. "(The Leffel's) spent 32 years here and we just want the community to come out and thank them for all they have done," Karen Raymond said. "It's an all-day event, meet-and-greet for us and a great way to say thank you to Dale and Pat." The Raymonds also hope to make 1231 Belvedere a place for family fun with activities aimed at that crowd. They're considering a dance night for teens, live music, pool tournaments, horseshoe pits and family picnic days, among other things.
