Paper Arts with a Vintage Feel with Contributing Editor Malia Karlinsky. I recently attended a paper crafting show in Seattle. There were loads of lovely things to see but one booth in particular felt very vintage indie. Crafty Secrets offers retro and vintage crafting supplies that also feel fresh.
Head Designer Vicki Chrisman shared some of her favorite products and projects with us: For more inspiration visit the Crafty Secrets website and blog. Malia Karlinsky is a wife and a Mom to two cute kids. She enjoys elegant upcycling, finding vintage treasures, sewing, photography and writing. On the Road with Guest Amber Strehle at Creative Connection Minneapolis. Style: A quality of imagination and individuality expressed in one's actions and tastes. I’m fresh home from a simply AMAZING trip to Minneapolis for the first EVER Creative Connection. This event was sensory overload in so so many ways. Of course I could not help myself, and just had to snap a few pictures of this ever talented group of ladies, and (of course!) what they were wearing. A little fashion inspiration from The Vintage Barn! Kecia from Lemoncholy’s is not only a VERY talented artist, she looks just plain FAB! She had a story to go with her guitar, everything on it had a special meaning or reason it was there. If you look closely you can even see Ree Drummond’s autograph! Elaine & Rolane from Barn Baby all dressed up for the welcome dinner on Friday night. Loving all the time and attention that went into these outfits. My girlfriend said, “Really these types of events are just about the only place we can all dress totally free and not even get a funny look, but rather, “Oh!! Amber loves (just to name a few) Zach, her 4 children, friends, stacks of books, photography, God, coffee and deep conversation. What she does not love is, dirty toilets, folding laundry and when the person in the Starbucks Drive-Thru does not pull up all the way. Artful, Unqiue and Whimsical: That's how I'd describe the Autumn Petite Retreat Show on Camano Island, WA. My friend Rebecca and I spent a lovely day together, meeting lovely people and looking at gorgeous things. My Mothers Buttons had so many fabulous items, it was difficult to know where to look. My Mother's Buttons creates one of a kind jewelry made with antique buttons and bridle rosettes from the Victorian and Edwardian era. Speaking of special, Deb and Bob Kennedy from Retreat come up with the most fun and pretty ideas. And this dress which I'm pretty sure was created out of crepe paper!
But the really amazing thing about Rose-Marie is the talented woman behind it-- Jo Marie Richman. She makes all these beautiful skirts for ladies and girls. That's where photographer Elise Liptack of Elise Marie Photography was snapping photos of folks at the show. Elise has a magical way of taking pictures and capturing the personality of her subjects. I got to attend a fun little show last weekend and take oodles of photos that I'd love to share with you. 123 Rue de Park Lane Event took place on a sunny Saturday in Kirkland, WA. The lane was shut down to cars and filled with fantastic booths instead. These tiny chairs are created out of champagne corks by Cindy. This is the Bohemian Gypsy Collections and Consignment booth-- lots of treasures.
Cake Couture Vintage had a gorgeous mix of antiques. A clever blackboard, fluffy pillows and cute place setting from My Sweet Savannah. Well I was busy snapping photos but couldn't resist this tiny china set. I'd say it's for my little girl but the truth is we're sharing it. Visit me any day over at my blog Yesterday on Tuesday.
